PTSD effects the Prefrontal cortex, Amygdala, and Hippocampus.
The Prefrontal cortex helps planning complex gonitive behaviors, personality expression, decision making, and moderating correct social behavior.

The Amygdala is the primary role in processing and memory of emotional reactions. The Amygdala is situated in the temporal, in front of the Hippocampus, and functions to control autonomic, emotional and sexual behavior.

The Hippocampus plays an important role in long-term memory and may be involved in explicit memories of traumatic events.
